Farr Vintners - New Customer

Farr Vintners has selected Darwin Consultants to provide skilled resources to supplement their in-house development team during a large internal project.

Founded in 1978, Farr Vintners has grown steadily to become Britain's largest wholesale fine wine merchant - a position they have now held for over a decade.  Farr Vintners’ main activity involves the purchase and sale of top Bordeaux wines; they also offer an in-depth range of wines from other French regions including Burgundy, the Rhône and Loire valleys, Champagne and Alsace, along with a featured list from other countries around the world.

Farr Vintners recognise that their business systems and website have given them a competitive advantage in an increasingly crowded market sector.  However this advantage has been eroded over the years and Farr have identified the need to revamp their core internal systems, modernising the technology on which they are built and improving the functional support to the business as a whole.  With an in-house development team already in place, Farr are keen to retain a level of internal knowledge whilst benefiting from the experience and expertise of an external consultancy.

Darwin Consultants will provide a team of resources to assist with the production of a new system from requirements analysis through to implementation and support.  During the project, the expert knowledge held by Darwin in areas such as object-oriented design and .NET development technologies will be passed on to Farr’s internal developers to enable them to maintain and support their system post implementation.

With an in-house team of experienced developers, Darwin Consultants will form a partnership with Farr Vintners to meet their immediate development needs and ensure a continuity of service and support for the future.
